I’m Lauren: a 30-something tree-hugging dirt-worshiper living in the Blackland Prairie region of Texas.
I’ve been an ADF style Druid since 2012, and since then I’ve completed ADF’s first study program – the Dedicant Path – as well as the Preliminary Clergy Training Program and the First Circle of the ADF Clergy Training. (CTP-Prelim and CTP-1) I was ordained as an ADF Priest on April 28, 2018 at a ritual surrounded by my grovemates, community, and friends. I’m currently working on ADF’s revised Initiate Program.
As well, I am a devotional polytheist priest, and that shapes a great deal of my practice. I took my (first) oath of service at Imbolc 2018. I am also a Senior Initiate in the Henge of the Cobbled Path, a polytheist religious order that is currently based in North Texas.
Come and sit a spell, there’s always tea at the ready (hot or iced, as is your wont).
Great idea! Which source do you use for the dates of the moons and celebrations throughout the year? I have found a number of them online, though there oddly does not always seem to be the same agreement as to which days they are.
I find the difference in dates is usually due to timezones. I use the US Military Observatory’s data, which you can get here, for moon phases – http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/MoonPhase.php Keep in mind that these times are UTC (Universal time), so you’ll have to subtract hours for your timezone – I’m in US Central, so that’s UTC-6.
For High Days, I use the typical calendar dates for planning my calendar each year (Samhain on Oct 31, Yule on Dec 21, Imbolc on Feb 1). I know there are more specific astronomical dates (the Solstice doesn’t always happen on the 21st), but since I can rarely celebrate ON the actual day, I figure as long as I get close it doesn’t matter.
Hello I am a 30 year old inducted into the ADF dedicants program and I live outside of San Antonio and would love to chat sometime about ADF, Druidry, magick or whatever might we fancy. But only if you would enjoy that, not attempting in anyway to be pushy or stalkerish. Bright blessings to you and your family(s).
Hi, Lauren. I’m currently interested and looking into ADF and I was hoping you could share your experiences as a heathen practicing druidry and how well it meshes together with the ADF lifestyle? I have some more private questions if that’s ok… may I email you?
love your blog 🙂
Hi Rowan – I would love to share my experiences with Heathenry and ADF, and know of several other ADF Heathens who would be happy to give their perspectives as well. You’re also always welcome to email me at theswampdruid@gmail.com if you have private questions.
